On guard!

Thank you soooo much for all the advice and ideas! So we found out a few things that work so far to get her to fall asleep...vacuum + swaddling + lots of movement! Even then she'll wiggle her arms out and she likes to stick them straight up in the air or protect her face! We like to call her our little boxing champ because of all the pictures we have of her "protecting her face" w/ her hands. I think she's still adjusting to life "on the outside"!!!! Such a little cutie! It's not so bad always cuddling with her either!

What ever it takes! Right. Just sleep long enough for me to brush my teeth and change my clothes.

Love,

Sorry I didn't respond earlier. I do have some advice for sleeping. The swing is definitely one of my favorites. My baby sleeps 10 hours at night in the swing. It's great. Swaddling with a binky is good too. If you wrap the blanket kind of over the face, you can force that binky to stay in while they sleep. It sounds dangerous, but it really isn't.

I also like to nurse my baby to sleep laying down in bed, and then walk away when he's really out. I surround him in a heavy down comforter so he feels like I'm still there. I only do this for naps as I can't sleep with a baby in my bed.

Do you have a sling? I saw the snuggly, but the sling is better for sleeping in. You can keep them swaddled in a sling. When my baby was newer and he was too anxious to fall asleep on his own, I would put him in the sling and carry him around while I did my housework. That way he was held, and sleeping, and then it was very easy to put him down later. I just slipped the sling over my head, and he was still swaddled up. Slings cost about $5.00 to make, and are very easy. I will post the instructions on my Preggot blog.

I saw that you have a little Houdini. My first baby could break out of his swaddle/wrap so fast, it was unbelievable. I learned that those big flannel blankets- the ones where people crochet the edges- are impossible to break out of if you wrap them tight. The key is using a fabric that doesn't stretch.

That was probably more information than you needed, but I hope some of it helps you. Good luck, and let me know if you need any more info.

There's nothing sweeter than a sleeping baby! I really loved the "Happiest Baby..." I'm a big believer in the 5 S's, although I can't remember two- swaddle, sound, suck, ??? Anyway I'm glad it's working. I think sometimes it just takes them awhile to get used to life on the outside.
